Martin Truex Jr. Misses Out On Victory At Kansas
7 months agoMartin Truex Jr. would end up finishing fourth in exciting fashion during the AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway. Truex would start the race at Kansas from the 13th position and throughout the day, would steadily make his way closer to the front. By the end of the first stage, Truex made it to seventh and by the end of the second stage, Truex would break into the Top 5. The driver of the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota would score stage points at the end of the first two stages. In the final stage, Truex would continue to ascend through the field, even taking advantage of pit strategy to have fresher tires than some of the competition, leading to a late race charge against Denny Hamlin. When Kyle Busch spun and brought the caution out with six laps to go, Truex would end up pitting for four tires and start behind several cars on the final restart. Truex would quickly charge through the field again, but it would be too little too late. Although Truex would catch the front of the pack, he was side by side with Chase Elliott and would record his fourth top-5 finish of the season. Truex remains second in the Cup Series standings heading to Darlington, where Truex led in seven of the last eight Cup events at the site despite having no top-10 finishes there since the Next-Gen car was introduced in 2022.
