Joe Gibbs Racing's Martin Truex Jr. finished in the 22nd position in Sunday's Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway. Coming into Sunday's race, Truex's only chance to qualify for the championship race was to win. Truex won the June race at the half-mile track and led 129 laps in this event. On a restart with just under 100 laps to go, Truex made a power move and took the lead from the outside lane. Truex would lead on the final restart with around 50 laps to go, but unfortunately for Truex, he told his crew that he had a loose wheel. Chase Elliott would then pass Truex for the lead, and only a couple of laps later, Truex had to come down pit road to tighten his tire. The finish was a heartbreaking ending to Truex's championship hopes after his strong run.--John Pitucci - RotoBaller
