Martin Truex Jr. Fought All Day, Finishes Third At Sonoma
3 years agoMartin Truex Jr. started 19th on Sunday and though he was able to get up to near the front at times, he just did not have the downforce to take the lead. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver did not lead a single lap on Sunday. That was rare for him at a road course. The lack of a spoiler and persistent air pressure issues kept Truex Jr. from finishing ahead of the two Hendrick cars. Even on the final restart, Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott were able to pull away as Truex Jr. finished almost two seconds behind Larson.
