Martin Truex Jr. Finishes One Lap Down In 15th At Iowa
6 months agoMartin Truex Jr. placed 15th in Sunday's Iowa Corn 350, the first race since announcing his retirement at the end of the year. After starting 31st, Truex struggled with handling issues but made it to 21st by the end of the first stage. In the second stage, Truex ascended a few more positions before he nabbed a speeding penalty during his green-flag pit stop during his Lap 166 pit stop. The No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota driver ended the second stage in the 30th position, multiple laps down. In the final stage, Truex took advantage of surviving multiple cautions to make up ground on the field by taking the wave around multiple times. By Lap 263, Truex returned to the lead lap but was lapped by eventual winner Ryan Blaney. At the end of the race, Truex finished as the first car one lap down and collected his fifth consecutive finish outside the top 10. With the Cup Series heading to New Hampshire this weekend, Truex should be one of the favorites to bounce back as the track's most recent winner.
