Martin Truex Jr. Continues His Recent 2024 Struggles At Darlington
3 months agoIn this year's Cookout Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, Martin Truex Jr. ended the event in the 36th position. The No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota driver started the race from the fifth position but did not remain there for long. On the second lap of the race in the first stage, Truex was fighting with William Byron for position when the two made contact with each other. Truex lost control of his car and headed to the wall where Ryan Blaney was located, trying to avoid him. The No. 19 driver then crashed into Blaney and had too much damage to continue racing, ending with his second DNF of the year. This also was the first time since 2007 that Truex crashed out of a race at Darlington. As the Cup Series next heads to Atlanta to open the 2024 playoffs, Truex is looking for his first-ever top-10 finish at the site since the track was reconfigured in 2022.
