Martin Perez Expected To Make San Diego Debut On Saturday
3 months agoSan Diego starting pitcher Martin Perez is expected to debut with his new team on Saturday evening as the Padres play host to the Colorado Rockies. The southpaw carried a poor 5.20 ERA, 1.65 WHIP, and a 32:63 BB:K ratio across 83 innings in the Steel City earlier this season. The 33-year-old currently sits with a high 43.3% hard-hit rate and 8.7% barrel rate, which suggests these struggles could continue in the second half. Perez currently sits as the fifth man in the San Diego rotation but may shift to a long relief role once Joe Musgrove (elbow) returns from the 60-day IL. Perez could be a sneaky play in DFS, however, as he faces the Colorado Rockies, who hold a team .234 AVG, which is the fifth-worst mark against left-handed pitching this season.
