Martin Perez Being Shifted To Bullpen
1 year agoTexas Rangers pitcher Martin Perez is being moved from the rotation to the club's bullpen after the trade deadline acquisitions of a pair of starting pitchers. After Texas traded for Max Scherzer and Jordan Montgomery, the club either needed to send someone from the rotation to the bullpen or go with a six-man rotation. It appears Perez is the rotation casualty amidst a difficult season on the mound. The veteran left-hander owns a 4.98 ERA, 5.49 SIERA, and a tiny 5.9% K-BB% across 20 starts this season. His numbers are especially disappointing considering he tossed 32 starts of 2.89 ERA ball as part of a career year just last season. Perez has made 243 of his 273 career big-league appearances as a starter.
