Marlins Option Three Pitchers Friday
7 years agoThe Miami Marlins optioned pitchers Adam Conley and Dillon Peters to Triple-A New Orleans and sent Jarlin Garcia to Double-A Jacksonville on Friday. The moves indicate that top pitching prospect Sandy Alcantara could break camp in the starting rotation. The 22-year-old Alcantara came over in the trade that sent outfielder Marcell Ozuna to the Cardinals, and he is sporting a 2.25 ERA and 0.83 WHIP this spring. Conley had 56 starts for Miami over the last three years, but he was sent to the minors in 2017 after struggling mightily. The left-hander made changes this spring to alter his delivery, and his fastball was sitting in the mid-90s. Of the three optioned, Garcia is probably the most intriguing to fantasy owners in the long run. Alcantara should be stashed in keeper and dynasty leagues, but take a wait-and-see approach in redraft formats.
