Marlins-Mets Opt Not To Play Thursday
4 years agoThe Miami Marlins and New York Mets have decided not to play Thursday amid the sports-wide boycotts in the wake of the Jacob Blake shooting. The clubs agreed to a show of solidarity by participating in a 42-second moment of silence before departing the field, effectively canceling the contest. The vast majority of games around the Majors were not played Thursday, and it’s unclear at this stage if either team will participate Friday, with Miami taking on Tampa Bay and the Mets playing a doubleheader against the Yankees.
