Marlins Acquire Jake Mangum From The Mets
2 years agoThe Miami Marlins acquired outfielder Jake Mangum as the player to be named later in the trade with the New York Mets that involved Jeff Brigham and Elieser Hernandez. Mangum wasn't one of the Mets' top 30 prospects, and he was left unprotected in this week's Rule 5 draft. Mangum is strong defensively and has a .760 career OPS in the minors in 209 games. The 26-year-old switch-hitter slashed a strong .306/.363/.441 with an .804 OPS, four home runs, 35 RBI, 43 runs scored and 14 stolen bases in 72 games at the Rookie League, Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse in 2022. He'll be looking to compete for a utility role in Miami at spring training next year.
