Mark Leiter Will Start Season On DL
7 years agoThe diagnosis is in for Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Mark Leiter (forearm), and he’ll be starting the 2018 season on the disabled list. The 27-year-old is suffering from a mild flexor strain in his right forearm, resulting in his absence until late April or early May. While he avoided a potentially more serious injury, this hampers Philadelphia’s plans for the back end of their starting rotation. Leiter was considered a candidate for the No. 5 starting spot, but he will have to wait for the opportunity. He struggled last season, going 3-6 with a 4.96 ERA but was superb at the start of spring, tossing seven shutout innings in his first three appearances.
