Mariners Reportedly Sign Ryan Buchter To Minors Deal
3 years agoThe Seattle Mariners have reportedly signed relief pitcher Ryan Buchter to a minor league deal, according to The Seattle Times' Ryan Divish. Also per Divish, Buchter will get an invite to Major League camp. Buchter has 236.1 innings in the Majors and has appeared in each of the last six seasons. He owns a lifetime 3.16 ERA and a 4.38 FIP. Most recently, the right-hander appeared in 18 games for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2021, throwing 16.1 innings and pitching to a 6.61 ERA, a 7.95 FIP, 16 strikeouts, and 13 walks. Seattle's bullpen should be a major strength this season and Buchter gives the team even more depth. Paul Sewald, Diego Castillo, Drew Steckenrider, Andres Munoz, and Ken Giles headline the Mariners' current high-leverage options.
