Mariners Reportedly Sign Patrick Weigel To Minors Deal
3 years agoAccording to Baseball America's Chris Hilburn-Trenkle, the Seattle Mariners have signed right-handed pitcher Patrick Weigel to a minor league deal. The 27-year-old has previously pitched for the Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers and has thrown 4.2 innings at the Major League level. He was traded by Atlanta to Milwaukee in April with fellow reliever Chad Sobotka for infielder Orlando Arcia. Weigel will provide the Mariners with some additional bullpen depth. Seattle's current late-inning options include Paul Sewald, Ken Giles, Andres Munoz, Diego Castillo, Drew Steckenrider, and Casey Sadler.
