According to the team, the Seattle Mariners are inviting shortstop prospect Colt Emerson to spring training. MLB Pipeline ranks Emerson as the top prospect in the Seattle system and No. 27 overall in the sport. Emerson made his Single-A debut last season and performed very well as he held a .293/.440/.427 line with 12 doubles, two home runs, six stolen bases, and a 35:27 BB:K ratio. This strong performance earned him a taste of High-A ball during the back half of the season. Across a short 29-game stint with High-A Everett, the 22nd overall selection in the 2023 MLB Draft posted a .225/.331/.317 line. He hit just five doubles, two home runs, and swiped nine bags. While Emerson will not be in contention to make the Opening Day Roster, if he performs well, he could get an early look at Double-A during the 2025 season.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

On Wednesday, the Seattle Mariners' top two prospects, infielder Colt Emerson (MLB No. 20) and outfielder Lazaro Montes (MLB No. 42), were reassigned to minor-league camp. Emerson was Seattle's first-round pick in 2023 is a .290 hitter thus far in his MiLB career, and carries an elite OBP of .419 with his ability to get on base via the walk. The 19-year-old boasts a 14.9 percent walk rate over 450 plate appearances, finishing 2024 at High-A. True to form, he posted a 4:3 BB:K in Cactus League action even though he managed to hit only .118 (2-for-17). Montes has big-time power, belting 21 home runs last season as a 19-year-old across Single-A and High-A, but he too has a good eye, recording a 15.7 percent walk rate thus far over 1067 PA. The Cuban hit .385 (5-for-13) this spring, including a pair of home runs, but will head back to the minors to test his mettle against pitchers at the upper levels. Both could be solid fantasy contributors in 2026, so dynasty and redraft managers alike should be familiar with them.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

Seattle Mariners shortstop prospect Colt Emerson has carried a stellar .370/.435/.537 line across 13 games at the Arizona Fall League. He has also tallied nine doubles, ten RBI, and eight stolen bases. He currently holds the highest AVG out of all shortstops participating. This is a great sign for the former first-round pick as he enjoyed a fantastic extended look at Single-A ball last summer. Across 40 games, Emerson posted a .293/.440/.427 line with 12 doubles. He then earned a brief taste of High-A ball but posted a modest .225 AVG. Dynasty managers should continue to follow his progression as he is considered the top prospect in Seattle and No. 27 overall on MLB Pipeline.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Seattle Mariners shortstop prospect Colt Emerson has showcased his speed through his first small taste of High-A ball. Emerson has swiped at least one bag in each of his past three games. In the batter's box, Emerson holds a .208/.424/.375 line through seven total games. However, he has reached safely in all but one of them. At Single-A this summer, the 19-year-old posted a stellar .293/.440/.427 line with 25 RBI, 12 doubles, six stolen bases, and a 35:37 BB:K ratio. While he has yet to heat up in the batter's box, his excellent on-base skills have looked just as prevalent at High-A. Emerson remains several seasons away from his major league debut but is a name to keep a close eye on as he sits as the 30th-best prospect in baseball on MLB.com.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Seattle Mariners shortstop prospect Colt Emerson went 1-for-4 with a single and walk to earn his first base hit at High-A on Thursday evening. Emerson made his High-A debut the night before but went 0-for-4 with a walk. Emerson spent the first half of the summer getting his second look at Single-A pitching and performed very well, boasting a .294/.440/.427 line with 44 total hits, 25 RBI, and a 35:27 BB:K ratio. The 19-year-old was selected with the 22nd overall pick in last year's draft out of John Glenn HS. Currently considered the third-best prospect in Seattle and 41st overall in the entire sport, Emerson is a name to keep a close eye on as he continues to develop in the lower levels of the minor leagues.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
