Marcus Stroman Strikes Out Six In Loss
3 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Marcus Stroman took the tough-luck loss in his return to the mound on Thursday as his club fell to the Diamondbacks 3-1. The right-hander gave up three runs (two earned) on five hits over five innings of work, striking out six and issuing no free passes in his first start since May 1 after battling a bout of COVID. Daulton Varsho tagged him for a solo home run in the fourth, but otherwise all the hits he allowed were singles in his 77-pitch effort. It was a positive just to see Stroman stay effective on the mound as he will take a 4.88 ERA and 1.15 WHIP into his next scheduled start versus the Reds next week.
