Marcus Semien Falls Single Short Of Cycle
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays second baseman Marcus Semien was all over the scoresheet on Friday, but it wasn't enough as his club fell to the Rays 9-7 in extra innings. He went 3-for-6 with two runs and two RBI as he fell just a single shy of the cycle. His homer came off Tyler Glasnow in the fifth for his 11th of the season and he also swiped his eighth bag of the year for good measure. The 30-year-old continues to be an integral cog at the top of the team's batting order, batting .287 with 30 runs and 28 RBI through 43 games. Semien is looking more and more like a free-agent steal after signing a one-year deal with Toronto this offseason as he looks to build up a juicier resume for another try at free agency.
