Marcus Semien Delivers Walk-Off Hit
4 years agoOakland Athletics shortstop Marcus Semien didn't have a great night Friday vs the Astros, but he was the hero in the 13th inning delivering a walk-off single to win the game. Despite the walk-off RBI, Semien went just 2-for-7 on the night as he has struggled in the early portion of this season. Semien is batting just .190 with an xBA even lower at .153. Part of the problem has been strikeouts. Semien is striking out at a 30.8 percent rate thanks in part to a 25 percent chase rate on pitches outside the zone. Semien will need to get those numbers under control like he did last season en-route to a .892 OPS and third-place finish in AL-MVP voting. Hopefully, a good matchup vs a rookie left-hander Saturday can help bust Semien out of this slump for fantasy managers.
