Marcus Semien Continues To Struggle
4 years agoOakland Athletics shortstop Marcus Semien went 0-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in a win over the Angels Sunday. Another hitless day drops Semien's average to an anemic .202 with a .256 on-base percentage. Neither of those numbers are ideal for a leadoff hitter, but manager Bob Melvin has been patient with Semien in the one-hole. Semien looks like a different player than the one who finished third in AL-MVP voting last season as he's near the bottom of the league in expected batting average (.197), xwOBA (.262), and hard-hit rate (31.5 percent). As long as he's still leading off Semien should be started in fantasy as he has some good matchups this week with a struggling Rangers pitching staff.
