Marcus Pettersson, Drew O’Connor Traded To Vancouver
32 mins agoAccording to Frank Seravalli of DailyFaceoff.com, the Pittsburgh Penguins have traded defenseman Marcus Pettersson and left wing Drew O'Connor to the Vancouver Canucks. The Penguins received Danton Heinen, Vinny Desharnais, and Melvin Fernstrom and a conditional first-round selection in exchange. Pettersson has been a reliable top-four defenseman during his tenure in Pittsburgh. He joined Pittsburgh in 2018 via a trade from the Anaheim Ducks. From 2019 through 2024, Pettersson made 385 starts and tallied 122 points, a +55 rating, 590 hits, and 570 blocked shots. This season, Pettersson tallied 18 points (three goals, 15 helpers) with 83 blocks. Drew O'Connor has spent his entire career with Pittsburgh and has shown flashes at times but has struggled to produce on a consistent basis. He tallied a career-best 33 points with 16 goals. However, this season, he has scored just six goals with 16 total points. Pettersson will have a top role in the Vancouver defense, while O'Connor should have a spot on the third line.
