Marco Luciano Takes Batting Practice
2 years agoSan Francisco Giants top infield prospect Marco Luciano (back) has advanced to taking regular batting practice. Luciano suffered a lower back stress fracture during the offseason and is slowly building things back up. He is ranked 22nd on MLB's top-100 prospect list and is expected to be ready for the opening of the Double-A Richmond season. The 21-year-old has impressive raw power, which blends well with his dynamic glove. Luciano spent most of his 2022 campaign with the Giants' High-A affiliate, the Eugene Emeralds. He slashed .263/.339/.459 with a .798 OPS and 10 home runs. He posted a .357 wOBA along with a 22.2% strikeout rate. The Dominican native is poised to become the starting shortstop for the Giants at some point along the way, but he isn't an asset in redraft leagues just yet.
