Marco Gonzales Underwhelms In Season Opener
4 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Marco Gonzales gave up four runs, three earned, on five hits and a walk through 4 1/3 innings in Friday's season opener against the Astros. The Astros are one of the toughest opponents for pitchers, so while the stat line isn't encouraging, it is also not surprising. Gonzales doesn't offer a lot of upside, especially with a low strikeout rate, and the Mariners aren't expected to give their pitchers a lot of run support this season so moving forward, Gonzales will remain a low-end fantasy option for deeper leagues. Gonzales is expected to take on the Angels on Thursday and can be left on waivers for now.
