Marco Gonzales Fans Three Against D-Backs
2 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Marco Gonzales turned in a nice performance on Friday in Cactus League play in the 6-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Gonzales picked up the win and allowed three hits while walking two and striking out three in 3 2/3 scoreless innings. It was a nice bounce-back outing in spring training after he allowed four earned runs against the Los Angeles Angels in his first Cactus League start. The 31-year-old southpaw has a low fantasy ceiling because of his lack of strikeouts, and he's also allowed an uncomfortable amount of contact. He'll need to pitch well to avoid being booted from the Mariners' starting rotation after he went 10-15 with a 4.13 ERA (5.05 FIP), 1.33 WHIP and weak 13.2 percent strikeout rate in 32 starts last year.
