Marcelo Mayer Goes Deep, Posts Third-Straight Multi-Hit Game
25 seconds agoBoston Red Sox infield prospect Marcelo Mayer went 2-for-5 with a home run during their contest on Sunday against Triple-A Rochester. This was Mayer's third-straight contest tallying at least two hits and fourth-straight game tallying at least one hit. This was also Mayer's second long ball over his previous three contests. Over his last six contests, Mayer has begun to heat up at the plate, holding a .286/.333/.536 line with eight total hits (three for extra bases) and added 13 RBI. The 22-year-old spent most of his 2024 campaign with Double-A before earning the call to Triple-A Worcester. However, he could not appear in a contest due to hip and back injuries. However, the former fourth overall pick has begun to hit for power at Triple-A and is nearing his MLB debut. He should be in the mix to get the call to Boston in the coming months.
