Marcelo Mayer Goes Deep In Second Straight Game
1 hour agoBoston Red Sox shortstop prospect Marcelo Mayer went deep for his second-straight game on Wednesday evening. In this contest, Mayer went 1-for-4 with a two-run shot that also scored fellow top prospect Roman Anthony. Since going 0-for-4 in his Triple-A debut on March 28, Mayer has tallied at least one hit in each of his past three. During this recent surge, he has posted two multi-hit outings with seven RBI and three runs. Last season, the former fourth overall pick spent his entire campaign at the Double-A level, where he held a strong .307/.370/.480 slash line. Mayer did get the call to Triple-A but was never able to appear in a contest due to hip and back injuries. Fantasy managers should continue to closely monitor Mayer's production with Worcester, as he should be in the mix for a 2025 debut.
