Manuel Rodriguez Earns First Save
3 years agoChicago Cubs relief pitcher Manuel Rodriguez earned his first career save versus the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday evening. The Cubs called up Rodriguez when they dealt the bulk of their bullpen last week and he has now appeared in three games with Wednesday being his first save opportunity. Rodriguez took care of business and allowed one hit with one strikeout during his outing. The Cubs have also used Kyle Ryan for a save with Craig Kimbrel being dealt to the White Sox last week and also have Codi Heuer and Dan Winkler as late inning options moving forward. Rodriguez has now allowed one run in 1 2/3 innings over three appearances and has three strikeouts. The Cubs closer situation is likely to be a committee at the moment and is one to avoid in most formats at the moment.
