Manuel Margot Plays Hero In Season Finale
6 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Manuel Margot went 3-for-5 with a homer and triple while scoring the game-winning run Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He also swiped his 11th base of the year. The strong showing caps a broadly disappointing season for the 24-year-old, who finishes with a .245/.292/.384 slash, just eight homers and 101 R+RBI. With the emergence of outfielders Franmil Reyes and Hunter Renfroe, Margot will enter Spring Training next season without a guaranteed starting job. San Diego will have a crowded outfield situation to sort out. Margot’s fantasy stock has likewise taken a hit and he’ll probably be off the 2019 draft radar in standard leagues.
