After a promising 2017, San Diego Padres outfielder Manuel Margot’s 2018 campaign has raised more questions than answers to his long-term viability with the team. Margot’s slash sits at a disappointing .246/.294/.377 with only seven homers in 490 plate appearances. Touted for his speed and defense, Margot’s 10-for-20 success rate on the basepaths has been unacceptable and a modest 3.2 defensive WAR has not made up for the offensive woes. While his young outfield counterparts Hunter Renfroe and Franmil Reyes have surged in the second half, Margot has wallowed with a .236 average since August hitting at the bottom of the order. For 2019, Margot will need a strong Spring Training to earn an everyday role on the field and recover any semblance of fantasy value.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller

The Detroit Tigers announced on Tuesday that they placed outfielder Manuel Margot (knee) on the 10-day injured list with left-knee inflammation and recalled outfielder Brewer Hicklen from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move. Margot will miss at least the next 10 days after injuring his knee in the team's 6-2 win over the visiting New York Yankees on Monday. The Tigers signed the 30-year-old veteran given all the injuries to their outfielders early this year, but now Margot will be on the sidelines as well. The Dominican outfielder started the year off with Detroit going 6-for-19 with a run scored and three RBI in a short-side platoon role. He has no business being rostered in mixed fantasy leagues. Given all the injuries to Detroit's outfielders, Justyn-Henry Malloy and Ryan Kreidler should benefit the most from a playing-time perspective until one of Matt Vierling (shoulder), Wenceel Perez (spine) or Parker Meadows (arm) can return.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Detroit Tigers signed outfielder Manuel Margot, the 30-year-old journeyman from the Dominican Republic, after the Milwaukee Brewers released him on Saturday. Margot is a career .254 hitter and will now play for his fifth MLB team since being called to the big leagues in 2016. Margot provides a safety net and consistent floor for Detroit and will join outfielders Riley Greene, Kerry Carpenter, Wenceel Perez, and Parker Meadows (arm). Meadows was recently shut down from throwing and will miss some time, so the Tigers' signing of Margot was likely a proactive approach to add some outfield depth. For fantasy purposes, Margot can be left on the waiver wire and picked up if he flashes a hot stretch where he can help fantasy managers in points leagues if they deal with some injuries to their outfield.--Nicho Roessler - RotoBaller

Outfielder Manuel Margot was released by the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday. The veteran was 8-for-32 (.250) this spring with no home runs but did steal a base and logged a 3:5 BB:K. The right-handed hitter appeared in 129 games for the Twins last season, but it only amounted to a .238-4-31-37-5 stat line, which was a similar line to the two previous seasons. The 30-year-old may end up signing somewhere else, but those stats won't cut it for fantasy. Margot should be left on the waiver wire until he finds at least semi-regular at-bats somewhere and shows he can still produce. --Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

The Milwaukee Brewers have added free-agent outfielder Manuel Margot on an undisclosed deal, and he was spotted walking through the team's clubhouse at spring training on Friday. Margot was likely added on a minor-league deal to add depth to an already crowded Brewers outfield. The 30-year-old Dominican became a free agent in the offseason when the Minnesota Twins declined his $12 million option for the 2025 season. In his first year with the Twins in 2024, Margot hit .238/.289/.337 with a career-worst .626 OPS, four home runs, 31 RBI, five steals and 37 runs scored in 129 games played. However, he did have a .269 average (10-for-42) with a .713 OPS against left-handed pitchers. Speed is probably his greatest asset, but the fact that he slipped defensively last year won't help his chances of winning an Opening Day roster spot with the Brewers.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
