Manuel Margot Batting Fifth For Rays On Wednesday
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Manuel Margot will be batting fifth and playing left field in Game 2 of the Rays-Blue Jays wild-card series. Margot went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Game 1 of the series. The Rays are looking to take advantage of Margot's hot bat by moving him up in the lineup. Margot, considered an afterthought by the San Diego Padres who dealt him to the Rays before the season started, has had somewhat of a resurgence in Tampa Bay. Still only 26-years old, the former top prospect hit .269/.327/.252 with one home run, 11 RBI, and 12 stolen bases in 145 at-bats this season. He managed to tie for fourth in steals in the majors this season despite a part-time role in Tampa Bay. While his on-base skills leave a lot to be desired, when he does reach, he can help managers in stolen bases, runs, and does exhibit some power as we saw on Tuesday. He makes for a cheap, potentially decent contrarian play in DFS tournaments on Wednesday slotting into the lineup between Yandy Diaz and Hunter Renfroe facing lefty Hyun Jin Ryu.
