Manny Machado Returning to Starting Lineup Friday
2 years agoSan Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado is back in Friday's starting lineup against the Los Angeles Dodgers and left-hander Clayton Kershaw. Machado got a rare breather in Wednesday's series finale against the Cincinnati Reds and combined with Thursday's off day, he should be well rested for a big three-game set with the rival Dodgers this weekend. While it's been a tough start overall, Machado's bat has predictably heated up of late. The 30-year-old has hit three of his four homers for the season over his last five games while he's added a double, seven runs, six RBI, and a stolen base in that time. Even with Kershaw having a hot start to his season, Machado is a nice fantasy option Friday considering he is a career .290 hitter with four homers, a double, and a .922 OPS in 38 plate appearances for his career off of the future Hall of Famer.
