Mallex Smith Steals His Second Base Friday
4 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Mallex Smith went 2-for-4 with an RBI and stolen base in Friday's loss to the Rockies. Smith has been a major disappointment to fantasy owners this season hitting just .147 with 11 strikeouts and only two stolen bases. After leading the majors in steals in 2019 with 46, fantasy owners drafted Smith at a premium for those counting stats and he has not delivered. The future doesn't look great for Smith either as he has only started nine of Seattle's 15 games this season. To make matters worse, Smith usually bats 9th when he does play, which limits his plate appearances and minimizes his steals potential. As it stands now, Smith is really only playable in roto and head-to-head category leagues with daily lineups, but even in those leagues the possibility of his steals may not be worth the certainty of him being a detriment in all of the other categories.
