Madison Bumgarner Tagged For Six Runs In Spring Debut
6 years agoSan Francisco Giants starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner was tagged for six earned runs and five hits with no walks and one strikeout in his Cactus League spring debut against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday. He actually got off to a good start in the first innings, but didn't return a single batter he faced in the second. MadBum coughed up a double and four singles with a hit batsman. While the stats look poor, the final two hits were infield nubbers, and on one he just wasn't able to get to cover base in time to cover. His arm reportedly looked good and his velocity was up. Spring stats are mostly meaningless, and it's a time to iron out issues before the games count for real. Still, he has fallen from being fantasy ace to a risk heading into 2019. He isn't an early-round fantasy option any longer, but he is still a No. 1 starter in San Francisco and worth nabbing by the end of Round 6 in mixed fantasy play.
