3 years agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks have named starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner as the team's Opening Day starter this year. He will go up against a tough San Diego Padres lineup this coming Thursday, April 7. MadBum posted a solid 1.18 WHIP last year, but the rest of his numbers were pretty ugly. He had a 4.67 ERA and averaged just 7.6 K/9. The average velocity on his four-seamer (90.4 mph) was up last year from 2020 (88.4 mph), but it was still well below where it was in his prime.
