Calgary Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar (lower body) is likely to return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Seattle Kraken. Weegar was a late scratch for Saturday's contest against the New York Islanders due to a lower-body injury. However, Flames head coach Ryan Huska told reporters postgame that he expects to see Weegar back in action against Seattle. Brayden Pachal played instead of Weegar on Saturday and is likely to head back to the press box on Tuesday. Weegar has enjoyed a good campaign with the Flames, sitting only a couple of assists shy of matching his career high. He has managed 41 points (seven goals, 34 assists) in 68 games. Additionally, the Flames defenseman is 11 away from reaching 200 hits for the campaign and has recorded 157 blocks.

Calgary Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar played his part in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Rangers with three assists. Weegar set up one power-play goal and two even-strength tallies as Calgary improved to 8-3-0 on home ice. The 30-year-old blue-liner led all skaters with seven shots on goal. Since starting the campaign with goals in back-to-back games, Weegar has lit the lamp just one more time, adding eight assists in 20 appearances. He's on 56 shots, 48 blocks, and 51 hits. Weegar's scoring pace has dropped compared to 2023-24, but his all-around ability keeps his fantasy stock high.

Calgary Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar (illness) is expected to be back in the lineup Wednesday against Vancouver. He landed on the shelf with a non-COVID illness prior to Monday's action versus Montreal, but Weegar has had a couple of days to recover and looks to be on track to return to the lineup after participating in the morning skate. The 28-year-old has had a disappointing campaign offensively with only six points in 28 games, but he's put in a lot of work on the defensive side of things, registering 63 hits and 43 blocks.

Calgary Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar is battling an illness and might not play Monday versus Montreal. He missed the morning skate with a non-COVID illness, and if Weegar can't play either, he will sit out his first contest of the season. The 28-year-old is having a disappointing debut campaign in Calgary, boasting only six points through 28 games after having a career year in 2021-22 with 44 points. He hasn't even scored a single goal yet despite firing 50 shots on the net. If Weegar can't go on Monday, Nikita Zadorov looks set to take his spot on the second defensive pairing, while Connor Mackey will get an opportunity to make his sixth appearance of the season.
