Calgary Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar has agreed to an eight-year extension with the club. He earned himself a $50 million deal and will start to carry a $6.25 million cap hit from next season. Weegar, who was part of the Jonathan Huberdeau trade in the summer, had a career year with 44 points last season with the Panthers, adding 156 blocks and 179 hits. The 28-year-old has developed into one of the best defensemen in fantasy hockey and he should put up similar numbers in a top-pairing role in Calgary.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
