MacKenzie Gore To Open Season In Minors
4 years agoSan Diego Padres top pitching prospect MacKenzie Gore will start the season in the minor leagues. Given a real shot to crack the squad this spring, Gore finished with a 4.91 ERA over 11 frames. More importantly, he walked eight batters. The 22-year-old took prospect junkies by storm in 2019 with a 1.02 ERA and 29 percent strikeout rate in High-A across 15 starts, earning MLB Pipeline's Pitcher of the Year award and a brief call-up to Double-A. However, the Friars claim the awkward alternate site format in 2020 stunted his development, where he battled command and mechanical issues. The Padres still view Gore as a front-end future starter and he'll look to get back on track in the minors. Keep him tabbed as a premium dynasty asset.
