MacKenzie Gore Shines In Wednesday's Start
2 years agoWashington Nationals southpaw MacKenzie Gore was on full display after tossing six innings of one-run ball in the Nationals' 4-1 win over the New York Mets. Gore struck out a career-high 10 batters while walking just two batters through 101 pitches. The 24-year-old is now 3-1 on the season with a 3.00 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, along with 30 strikeouts. After being hauled in the blockbuster deal that sent Juan Soto to the San Diego Padres, the swap to Washington may have been the right move. Since joining the Nats, Gore has displayed some impressive resilience and efficiency, after a middling 2022 rookie season in San Diego. The North Carolina native currently displays a 29.1% strikeout rate with a 16.3% walk rate across 27 innings. If Gore can sustain such a high level of play, he is a viable option in the vast majority of leagues.
