MacKenzie Gore Making Triple-A Debut Friday
MacKenzie Gore will open the 2021 season in Triple-A El Paso and start Friday against the Tacoma Rainiers. Battling mechanical and command issues, El Paso manager Edwin Rodriguez admits Gore is "very close" but he'll need several strong outings before a potential promotion. In-line with the long term view for Gore, the Friars want him to stick as a big league starter when his anticipated debut arrives. The 22-year-old left-hander registered a 4.91 ERA during spring training with eight walks, but was MLB Pipeline's Pitcher of the Year in 2019 with a 1.02 ERA and 29 percent strikeout rate in 15 starts at High-A. With the call-up hype veered elsewhere for now, it's time for baseball's No. 6 prospect to prove himself as a key dynasty piece for both the Friars and fantasy managers.

MacKenzie Gore Lined Up To Start On Sunday
MacKenzie Gore (ankle) will make his next start this Sunday on the road in St. Louis against the Cardinals, according to MASN's Mark Zuckerman. Gore was a little sore following his last start against the Cincinnati Reds after tweaking his ankle, but he's been cleared to make his next start to close out the weekend series against the Cardinals. The 26-year-old southpaw made it through five innings last Saturday against Cincy, allowing an earned run on four hits while walking a season-high four and striking out nine. Overall, the former first-rounder by the San Diego Padres in 2017 has been strong for the Nats in 2025 through his first eight starts, posting a 3.33 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 68 punchouts in his 46 innings of work. The Cardinals currently hold the 11th-best OPS (.732) in the league, but Gore should be started in fantasy lineups.

MacKenzie Gore Dealing With Sore Ankle
MacKenzie Gore (ankle) is dealing with a sore ankle, but he's feeling a lot better. Gore slipped on a wet mound during his outing on Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds in the fifth inning, but he appears to have avoided a serious injury and should be able to make his next scheduled start this Sunday versus the St. Louis Cardinals. The 26-year-old southpaw and former third overall pick by the San Diego Padres in 2017 picked up a no-decision on Sunday against the Reds by allowing one earned run on four hits while walking four and striking out nine in five innings of work. Gore has looked good in his third year with the Nats and has posted a career-best 3.33 ERA (2.72 FIP) and 1.15 WHIP with a league-high 68 K's and 13 walks in eight starts over 46 innings. Start Gore on Sunday if he's cleared.

MacKenzie Gore Strikes Out Eight In Loss On Thursday
MacKenzie Gore turned in a quality start in a 2-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday. Gore allowed two runs on four hits over six innings of work while striking out eight and walking one but wound up with a tough-luck loss in the low-scoring affair. Gore notched a game-high 14 swinging strikes in the contest. The veteran hurler now has a 2-3 record, 3.34 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts over 35 innings of work as he looks to continue to build upon a breakout year in 2024. Gore will look to stay hot in his next start, which is scheduled for Tuesday against the Philadelphia Phillies.

MacKenzie Gore Mystifies The Rockies In Masterful Coors Field Start
MacKenzie Gore allowed just two runs on four hits in six solid innings in Denver, striking out 13 in a dominant performance. He left the game with a commanding 12-2 lead after striking out his 13th batter to end the sixth inning, but the Nationals' bullpen almost let the game get away before holding on for the 12-11 win. Gore improved to 2-2 with the win and has a 3.41 ERA, 2.30 FIP, and 1.21 WHIP in his five starts. He has an impressive 13.97 K/9 rate, which is the highest mark of qualified pitchers so far this season. Gore had no trouble with the strikeout-prone Rockies and will draw the Orioles at home in his next outing, which is currently scheduled for Thursday. Even in that tougher matchup, Gore is a must-start in all formats after his strong start so far.
