Mackenzie Blackwood Playing Much Better
5 years agoNew Jersey Devils goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood picked up his 14th victory of the campaign as his team defeated the New York Islanders 2-1 on Thursday evening. The Ontario native quelled a steady Islander attack throughout the contest, allowing just one goal on 30 shots against in the win. The tide continues to turn for the second-year netminder as he's now given up two goals or less in eight of his last 11 appearances. While not being blessed with an supremely talented team in front of him, Blackwood has quietly posted a respectably 2.79 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage in his 31 appearances in 2019-2020. He might not rack up the wins but he's above league average in starts (28) and could add value as a good third fantasy goaltender.
