Luke Weaver In Line To Get The Bulk Of Save Opportunities Moving Forward
Luke Weaver will get most of the Yankees' save opportunities moving forward. Boone didn't rule out using Weaver earlier in games in a prominent spot and then leaning on other relievers in the ninth, though. This news broke shortly after Boone announced that Devin Williams has been removed from the closer role for now. Williams has been struggling mightily in 2025, with an 11.25 ERA in 10 appearances. On the other hand, Weaver has not allowed an earned run in 13 innings pitched. Weaver immediately gets a short-term fantasy boost in both points and category leagues. It's still unclear what the plan will be in a month or two, but for now, Weaver will be used in closing situations, or at the very least, the highest leverage opportunities. He is a must-add in all formats that value saves and relief pitching.
