Luke Voit Will Avoid First Base Fate For Now
6 years agoWith just days until the start of the 2019 MLB regular season, the New York Yankees are still seemingly undecided over the starting first baseman. Entering the spring, the club had both Luke Voit and Greg Bird in competition for the everyday job, with the loser surely losing out on a spot on the big league roster. Voit has been superb thus far, hitting .316 with four home runs and 11 RBI, but Bird has also held his own. Aaron Hicks' injury, however, means the decision will be put on hold for now. Voit will be on the major league roster and will likely split duties with Bird at first base and as DH. The 28-year-old will remain a risky fantasy option until Hicks returns and a decision is finally made.
