Luis Urias Hopes To Be Cleared To Face Live Pitching
5 years agoMilwaukee Brewers shortstop Luis Urias (hand) is seeing a hand specialist Friday and hopes to be cleared to face live pitching. The 22-year-old infielder has been limited in spring training as he recovers from surgery for a broken hamate bone in his left hand. Urias hopes to be ready by the Brewers’ March 26 season opener against the Cubs, but he has a few more hurdles to leap before he can go full speed. Urias came over in a trade from the Padres and was expected to be the team's starting shortstop to open the season. That may have to wait a bit now, but the middle infielder has plenty of upside in his hitter-friendly park if he can just translate the success he's had at Triple-A to the big leagues. He's worth a late-round flier in deep mixed leagues, as it looks like he's progressing nicely from his injury.
