New York Yankees ace Luis Severino had one of the best nights of his young career on Wednesday as he tossed the first complete-game shutout of his career. Facing the Houston Astros, who defeated him with a World Series berth on the line last season, the 24-year-old stymied the opposing club’s offense. In nine innings of work, he allowed just five hits and one walk, recording 10 strikeouts. Of his 110 pitches on the night, 83 were strikes, frequently beginning plate appearances with them. With an off day this upcoming Monday, Severino will have an extra day of rest before his next start against the Boston Red Sox in the Bronx.--RDelgado
