Luis Robert Jr. Swipes Two Bags In Loss To Cleveland
3 days agoChicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr. went 1-for-3 with a single and two steals in Tuesday's 1-0 loss to the Cleveland Guardians. The 27-year-old was also caught stealing on a third attempt, walking and striking out once. Robert Jr. has struggled to kick off the season, compiling a .176 (6-for-34) batting average with a lone extra-base hit (double) in his first ten appearances (34-at-bats). However, it was nice to see him running again -- something he hadn't done since March. The Cuban-born right-hander has been a notoriously slow starter over the prior few seasons, so it's not time to sound the alarm bells yet. One silver lining for Robert Jr. is that his hard-hit rate has jumped up nearly three points thus far from the 40.7% figure he bolstered in 2024 (43.5%).
