Luis Patino Sent Down After Friday’s Start
3 years agoTampa Rays pitcher Luis Patino was optioned to Triple-Durham on Friday. He started in Friday's game against the Blue Jays and was tagged with his second loss of the season. The 21-year-old allowed seven runs (five earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out five across five 1/3 innings in Friday's 11-1 loss to Toronto. He threw 94 pitches, landing 64 for strikes. Patino was sent to the minors after Friday's start and it's unclear when the right-hander will be called back up. He owns a 4.87 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a 24:5 K:BB across 20 1/3 innings in 2021. Fantasy managers in deep-league formats should continue to stash Patino as he has the potential to make an impact in the second half of the season.
