Luis Patino Fans Eight In Thursday’s Win
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays pitcher Luis Patino (2-2) allowed three hits and two walks while striking out eight across six scoreless innings to earn the win in Thursday's 14-0 victory over the Yankees. He outdueled Yankees ace Gerrit Cole by striking out a season-high eight batters to pick up his second win of the season. The 21-year-old threw 97 pitches, firing 66 for strikes. The Rays traded Rich Hill to the Mets last week. Barring any late moves at the MLB trade deadline, Patino should remain in the starting rotation and is worth rostering in most league formats. The Rays right-hander owns a 4.26 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and a 36:10 K: BB across 31 2/3 innings in 2021. Patino will look to build on Thursday's performance when he faces the Mariners at home early next week.
