Luis Medina Called Up From Triple-A Las Vegas
2 years agoOakland A's pitcher Luis Medina has been called up from Triple-A and will start Wednesday's game against the rival Los Angeles Angels. Acquired from the Yankees in last season's trade involving Frankie Montas, the 23-year-old Medina has made three starts for Las Vegas this season, posting a 3.86 ERA alongside a strong 27.5% K%. However, Medina has yet to pitch more than four innings in any of three starts while his long-standing control issues have reared their head as he sports a sky-high 20% BB% after working to a 13% mark in the 2022 campaign. The right-hander doesn't appear ripe with fantasy relevance as he'll need to cut down big-time on the free passes while pitching deeper into games. Right-hander James Kaprielian, who has been blown up for a 12.94 ERA in 16 innings, was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
