Luis Gonzalez Designated For Assignment
1 day agoThe Baltimore Orioles designated left-handed pitcher Luis Gonzalez for assignment. In a corresponding move, the Orioles claimed right-handed Scott Blewett off waivers from the Minnesota Twins. Gonzalez logged four 2/3 innings with Triple-A Norfolk during the early part of the campaign. Across this brief stint, Gonzalez allowed six hits and three earned runs. He held a 4:4 BB:K. Gonzalez has yet to reach the major leagues. Last summer, the 33-year-old spent his entire season with the Norfolk Tides. He held a modest 4.50 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP across 60 innings of work. He flashed decent strikeout potential as he struck out 71 batters over this stint. Fantasy managers should expect Gonzalez to return to Norfolk if he does not draw interest on waivers.
