Luis Gil 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Reigning AL Rookie Of The Year Could Be A Steal In Drafts
1 day agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Luis Gil was named the American League Rookie of the Year a season ago behind a 15-7 record and a 3.50 ERA across 29 starts. Gil also struck out 171 batters and finished in the 76 percentile in whiff rate (29%) in his rookie campaign. But the reason why the right-hander is going later in 2025 fantasy drafts is likely due to his high walk rate and his rough end of the season. The 26-year-old walked a league-high 77 batters and had a 5.15 ERA over his last 15 starts. However, the right-hander definitely showed his potential in 2024. Opposing hitters had an expected .208 batting average against him, and Gil allowed one run or fewer in 17 of his 29 starts. So, he could wind up being a steal in the later rounds of fantasy drafts. He has a 191.7 ADP on NFBC, and if he can limit the walks this upcoming season, he should be able to improve on a successful rookie campaign. Gil is a sneaky pitcher target at this point in drafts, given his potential upside in 2025.
