Luis Garcia Secures First Save On Sunday
2 years agoSan Diego Padres pitcher Luis Garcia struck out one over a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Minnesota Twins. He entered the game in the ninth inning to protect a one-run lead. The 35-year-old received the first save opportunity with the recent news of incumbent closer Taylor Rogers "getting a little bit of a break" from closing duties. Garcia tossed a perfect inning on Sunday, recording his first save of the year. The veteran right-hander owns a 3.23 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 42:12 K: BB across 39 innings in 2022. After his recent struggles, Rogers will likely be eased back into the closer role. Garcia should see more save opportunities during Rogers' break, and fantasy managers searching for saves should add him in all league formats.
