6 years agoChicago White Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito took home American League Pitcher of the Month honors for the month of May. The 24-year-old pitched to the tune of a 1.74 ERA and 0.82 WHIP to go along with 46 strikeouts over 41 1/3 innings this month to take home the award. Following a disastrous 2018 season, Giolito has thrust himself into the conversation as one of the best pitchers of the year. Some of the credit is due to him abandoning his sinker and relying on his changeup more often, which has resulted in a career-high 10.43 K/9 and 2.63 FIP so far this season. He'll look to continue his dominance against a light-hitting Kansas City squad who he racked up 10 strikeouts against his last time facing them.
